When Vital gave a publish-Times of Paradise Terrence Malick $a million, carte blanche, to create his next film, he started creating a highly ambitious project about the roll-out of existence and also the cosmos titled Qasida (or, simply, Q). Obviously, the studio balked in the abstract Malick-ness from it all, the film delayed, and also the director required the following 2 decades removed from filmmaking. But! You can now read Malick’s own Q script notes, circa 1979, and picture how his globe-trotting Q eventually morphed into this season’s Tree of Existence.
